February 10 marked World Pulses Day 2025 under the theme "Pulses: Bringing diversity to agrifood systems". From Ukraine to Myanmar and Perú to Singapore, here's a roundup of events from various places.
Celebrations across the world highlighted the vital role of pulses in promoting sustainable agriculture, enhancing nutrition, and supporting food security. At GPC, we were thrilled to see so many countries bringing communities together to celebrate this superhero crop.
In Singapore, home of GPC President Vijay Iyengar, the pulses community came together in an event at KRSNA’s Free Meals, where the SPFL organized lunch distribution to migrant workers in celebration of World Pulses Day. Later at the Agrocorp office, staff had a pulses-themed lunch and played a game of pulses trivia to mark the occasion!

The newly formed Ukrainian Pulses and Soybean Association marked World Pulses Day 2025 by organizing a major event that gathered over 250 pulse producers and industry stakeholders. The celebration emphasized the importance of pulses in diversifying Ukraine's agricultural sector and promoting sustainable farming practices.
Perú was host of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) celebration of World Pulses Day 2025. The event, held at the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) headquarters in Lima, featured a high-level ceremony, an exhibition, and a gastronomic presentation showcasing tarwi, a native Peruvian pulse. An interactive technical dialogue discussed how pulses contribute to the diversity and sustainability of agrifood systems.
Perú was host of the FAO celebration, which included the presentation of tarwi, a native Peruvian pulse.
In Pakistan, World Pulses Day 2025 celebrations were held by the Pakistan Pulse Importers Association and the Karachi Wholesale Grocer’s Association in partnership with GPC. At the event, hundreds of stakeholders from the domestic pulses industry came together to network and celebrate the power of pulses.
Yangon was the host to a World Pulses Day celebration by OATA Myanmar, the India Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Myanmar Pulses Beans Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association. The event brought together the country’s pulse industry to celebrate in style.
In Tokyo, the Japan Peas and Beans Importers Association held its annual World Pulses Day event on February 4 with GPC President Vijay Iyengar giving an address to the gathered participants.
