“All the summer crop has already been harvested and I would say it was between 180-190 KMT – that's the total crop harvested. Around 70% of the crop is exported, with 30% remaining in the country.
Compared to last year's crop, this is around 10-20% larger in terms of quantity, and the quality is definitely better. The size is good and the colour is fine – there were no problems during the harvest with regards to weather, so the crop came out really nicely this year.
The winter crop started in December and we are expecting between 70-80 KMT in total from those crops. We still have 25-30% of the summer crop still in stock, with the new crop coming in May. The two crops are different, in that the summer crop is used for canning, whereas the winter crop can't be used for canning and can't be stored for a long time – its high moisture so you have to sell it and use it faster.”
