Last month the World Food Programme warned that the coronavirus pandemic could nearly double the number of people on the brink of starvation. A good part of that population lives in India, where nearly 15% of the population is malnourished.
In his most recent column for the Hindu Business Line, G. Chandrashekhar, senior editor and policy commentator, urged the government of India to tackle the issue of hunger on a war footing. The GPC spoke with Chandra about the situation in India and what can be done about it.
