  • Argentina’s pulse sector shows a broad recovery in 2025/26 after consecutive drought-hit seasons, with peas, mung beans and dry beans all improving.
  • Pea exports rose in 2025 and could surge in 2026, although global oversupply is expected to pressure prices.
  • Mung seedings are set to increase, while bean markets face strong competition from Egypt and uncertainty around Mexican import duties.

A big pea crop that could have been bigger

“According to private estimates, between 110,000 and 120,000 hectares (ha) of peas were planted for the last crop. Production and quality varied significantly by region due to torrential rains, episodes of intense heat, and out-of-season cold spells. In general, people are saying between 250-280 KMT of production, with approximately 25–30% corresponding to yellow peas and the remainder to green peas. If we hadn’t had those issues with the weather, it’s possible the crop could have been above 300 KMT.”
