Red lentils

  • “Turkish red split lentils can be exported up to August 31, 2024 under the conditions of the 2021-2022-2023 (three-year) average of exports, multiplied by 2.8%.”
  • “Before, it was 5.6% so obviously this will limit Turkish exports of red lentils. The key point however is there is no issue with trade for the re-export of Canadian red lentils.”

Chickpeas

  • “The Turkish chickpeas quota is open under the condition that the export union will check three months’ export numbers in 2023 and export numbers in each quarter will be multiplied by 1.75. This is valid until June 30, 2025.”
  • “For example, if you exported 1000 MT in the third quarter of 2023, your company could export 1750 MT in the third quarter of 2024.”
  • “In addition, for each quarter, companies can export a maximum of 10,000 MT of Turkish chickpeas. First-time chickpea exporters can export 100 MT for three months and newly established companies can export 50 MT.”
  • “This is better than last year’s quota and will help smaller and new companies to export. Turkish chickpea exports will almost double under the 1.75%, which is good news for the trade and prices are indicating strong demand from the Middle East.”
