Australian pulse expert Peter Wilson discusses the ongoing Aussie harvest—well-timed rains, the impact of Indian duties, and his market expectations given the packed pulse pipeline.
Chickpea harvest is underway in Queensland and NSW, with well-timed rains supporting yields despite patchy delays across southern states.
“We are well into the chickpea harvest in western Queensland (QLD), and the central areas will be pretty well done. Northern New South Wales (NSW) is still being harvested, and I think Central/Southern NSW would still be ongoing too. In Victoria, it's still a bit sporadic as they’re having to harvest between showers, and it’s the same in South Australia (SA) – they're all trying to get some harvest done, but the rain is slowing the whole process down.”
