A delegation of high-ranking officials from Pakistan's Plant Protection Department traveled to Ethiopia, where they visited a pulse field in Bishoftu; a phytosanitary laboratory in Adama; and a warehouse of two exporters in Adama.
As a closing ceremony, a dinner was hosted by Pakistan’s Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ashgar Ali Golo at his residence. Some of the VIPs who attended were the State Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Resources H.E. Dr. Eyasu Abraha; the State Minister of the Ministry of Trade H.E. Dr. Mebrhatu Melese; higher officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vice President of the Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds and Spices Processors-Exporters Association (EPOSPEA) and Regional Vice President of GPC, Mr. Tewodros Yilma; and other board members.
Pakistani delegates noted that they were satisfied with the discussions with Ethiopian plant protection officials and with their observations. The expectation is that the restriction on Ethiopian pulse imports will be lifted after delegates submit their visit report to the respective Pakistani government officials.
