Founder of AGT Foods and former Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) President Huseyin Arslan will be honored for his contribution to the global pulses industry at a short ceremony next year. The award will be given during the GPC’s annual convention, Pulses 24, which takes place in New Delhi, India on February 14-17, 2024.

The GPC’s Lifetime Achievement Award is destined for industry members who have demonstrated a lifetime of dedication to increasing the consumption and production of pulses worldwide. As founder of one of the largest companies in the pulse industry and former president of the Global Pulse Confederation, Arslan is an ideal candidate for the award.

“We are proud to be honoring Huseyin Arslan, who has greatly contributed to the pulses industry and remains as committed and motivated as ever,” said current GPC President Vijay Iyengar. “Our industry would not be the same without his years of dedication and hard work.”

Among his achievements, Arslan counts the establishment of the UN FAO World Pulses Day, which occurs every year on February 10 as well as the GPC Contract No.1 and the Colombo Accord, two integral tools for the enhancement of the international pulses trade. Huseyin Arslan has pulses in his blood: from the age of 5, he was visiting farms with his father. It’s not surprising then that he is now the head of a company with over 40 facilities across the biggest pulse-growing regions in the world.

The Global Pulse Confederation is the trade association for the global pulses industry, representing the entire value chain from farm to fork.
