  • EU field pea output set to ease in 2026/27, but still among the strongest crops of the past decade.
  • Major producers scale back, led by declines in France, Germany, and Spain.
  • Smaller origins step in, with expanding acreage in Romania and across Eastern and Northern Europe.

EU field pea production is projected at 2.27 MMT for 2026/27, down 6.5% year-on-year, as declines in key producers like France and Germany outweigh gains in emerging origins.

On March 26, 2026, the European Commission released its preliminary outlook for agricultural production across the EU-27, offering an early assessment of field pea output for the 2026/27 marketing year. The Commission projects total field pea production at approximately 2.27 million metric tonnes, marking a decline of around 6.5% compared to the 2025/26 season. Despite this reduction, the forecast still places the upcoming crop as the second-largest field pea harvest recorded in the bloc over the past nine years, underscoring the crop’s continued importance within the EU’s agricultural landscape.
