What role can development finance play in supporting the growth of the global pulse industry? This was the focus of a keynote by the Director within the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation's (DFC) Office of Health and Agribusiness.
Edward Hsu's presentation at Pulses 26 introduced attendees to the financing tools available through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the U.S. government's development finance institution. He outlined how debt, equity, guarantees, political risk insurance and project development funding can support agribusiness investments, supply chain resilience and food security initiatives across developing markets.
Hsu also highlighted opportunities for pulse companies, processors, traders and infrastructure developers to access financing for expansion projects, working capital, logistics improvements and market development. Emphasizing agriculture and food security as strategic investment priorities, he encouraged industry participants to explore how development finance can help strengthen global pulse supply chains, increase trade and support long-term industry growth.
