The GPC Young Professionals Internship program will be launched in Canada before the Canadian Special Crops Association (CSCA) and is supported by Pulse Canada and the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) as well as pulse processors across the most important producing regions. 

Join our Mission to educate the world - specifically our future generations - on pulses, the different growing regions and their unique attributes and challenges. Together, different pulse-growing countries can engage in this universal educational program to exchange and share experiences on agronomy, pulse-protein innovation, nutritional education in youth and Ag-tech. 

The program will include: 

  • An introduction to pulses, 
  • Supply chain/Logistics, 
  • Crop Protection and Agronomy,
  • Innovation and future of pulses
     

The GPC Young Professional Internship is the perfect way to enhance your journey as a member of the Global Pulse Confederation. Providing the opportunity to meet stakeholders across the entire value chain, it's a great way to deepen your involvement in the GPC community.


Program Itinerary

September 12-16, 2022

1) Vancouver
• Port of Vancouver
• Site visit
• Learn about logistics and logistics network
• Visit to Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) 
• Learn about overall crops in Canada and their growing regions
• Visit trade companies   

2) Vancouver to Regina
• Visit two plants and tour facilities
• Drive around the beautiful region to see crops and connect with growers 

3) Regina to Saskatoon (drive)
• Visit food centre
• Plant tour 
• Learn about innovation and tech in pulses
• Visit farms and talk to growers 

4) askatoon to Winnipeg
• Pulse Canada visit
• Deepen knowledge about innovation in pulses  

5) Winnipeg to Toronto
• Visit trade companies
• Canadian Special Crops Association (CSCA) convention

 

CSCA Pulses and Special Crops Convention

An amazing opportunity to make valuable industry connections, we will round off the tour with the CSCA’s Pulses and Special Crops Convention in Niagara Falls. North America’s largest pulse industry event, the convention brings together hundreds of industry leaders, exporters and buyers from around the globe. We greatly encourage participants to attend the convention with the GPCYP program leaders to cement their learnings and build their network.

To apply for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, fill in the application form with some details about yourself and your company as well as a short explanation of why you would like to take part in the program. Become a member of GPCYP

GPCYP membership is open to all GPC members between the ages of 18 and 40. Presently, there are more than 80 GPCYP members from all over the world, each contributing to the advancement of the global pulse trade’s goals in their respective countries.

For young newcomers to the pulse industry, the GPCYP offers a unique venue to engage with peers and to introduce themselves to current industry leadership from around the globe.
